On September 28, we ran our first community meetup with more than 25 participants. Here is our recap.
At DataCater, we not only help enterprises to unlock their data with our data pipeline platform but also love to connect with our users and extended community to chat about anything related to data preparation.
On September 28, we ran our first community meetup. More than 25 participants joined the meetup to listen and speak about data preparation as well as use cases they implemented with DataCater.
Olivier Dobberkau (Partnerships & Evangelist at DataCater) moderated the meetup, which featured two community speakers presenting interesting use cases around DataCater and our CTO, Hakan Lofcali, unveiling the product roadmap for the upcoming months.
After a warm introduction by Olivier, Hakan Lofcali presented our product roadmap and highlighted our focus on improving the developer experience.
We are currently working on a YAML-based declaration of data pipelines, which enables users to import/export pipelines, eases versioning, and provides sane defaults for faster development.
In addition, we will release APIs for several DataCater components to give you the possibility to automate tasks, set custom notification triggers, and build better machine-to-machine integrations.
These features were commonly requested by our community. If you also want to suggest future product improvements, we are always open to talk with you!
Our first community speaker Christiane Scherch (Data Engineer, news.de) presented how she automated the generation of COVID-19 news for Germany. With DataCater and AX-Semantics, she managed to produce over 800 posts per day in a fully automated manner! Technically, this is done by using DataCater Pipelines to consume data from REST APIs, prepare them, and sync them to the NLG tool AX Semantics. Used data sources include vaccination rates, incidences (RKI), and many more.
Our second community speaker Jan Kaiser (CEO & CTO, Xanevo) talked about content automation in the e-commerce business. A common challenge for e-commerce enterprises is the generation of product content for the enormous number of products a typical online store offers. With DataCater and AX-Semantics, online stores can automate the product content generation and reduce the time spent on it from weeks/months to minutes!
No doubt - the two community talks were definitely the highlights of the event and we want to thank Christiane and Jan for sharing their experiences and knowledge with us!
Despite having an action-packed agenda, there was time for some spontaneous exchange and networking, kicked off by Olivier with great questions.
If you want to convince yourself from our great community you can watch the event recording on our YouTube channel:
We are already looking forward to our second community meetup and we hope to welcome you to this event. Don’t miss our event announcements by following us on LinkedIn and tell us your agenda suggestions!
